Experian Hitwise reports Bing-powered share of searches at 30 percent in April 2012
Google retains largest overall share of searches at 64 percent in April 2012

New York, N.Y., May 8, 2012 Experian® Hitwise®, a part of Experian Marketing Services, announced today that Google accounted for 64.42 percent of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending April 28, 2012. The combined Bing-powered search comprised 30.01 percent of searches for the month, with Yahoo! Search and Bing receiving 15.69 percent and 14.32 percent, respectively. The remaining 65 search engines  in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis report accounted for 6.51 percent of U.S. searches.

Longer search queries increase 2 percent in April 2012
Longer search queries — those averaging five to eight words or more — increased 2 percent from March 2012 to April 2012. One-word searches comprised the majority of searches, too, amounting to 28.63 percent of all queries. Shorter search queries — one to four words — were flat from March 2012 to April 2012. One-word search queries have increased 19 percent from April 2011 to April 2012.

This does not include Google, Yahoo! Search and Bing.
