Experian QAS Offers Newest Version of Its Core Batch Engine

Offering provides complete address verification software and services for Canadian organizations with additional operating system compatibility

Boston, Mass. — Oct. 22, 2008 — Experian® QAS®, a leading provider of customer data quality software and services, today announced the release of QAS Batch 6.40, an update to its back-end address verification tool that is used by hundreds of organizations in many industries, such as education, retail, banking and insurance. Batch 6.40 offers new functionality, including the availability of Canadian data, customized formatting options, user interface advancements, improved performance and compatibility with a variety of operating systems. In addition to further enhancing organizations’ ability to improve address matching, with the availability of QAS Batch 6.40, Experian QAS now has a complete address verification product suite for the Canadian market.

“We are excited to offer a complete address verification suite for Canada, keeping us on track to become the leader in this market,” said Joel Curry, COO, Experian QAS. “The products are designed to work together providing an enterprise wide offering, allowing companies to verify addresses at all points of capture and on the back-end.”

As companies strive to improve the quality of data in their information supply chain, they are looking to implement a complete data quality solution from front-end verification to back-end cleansing and standardization. QAS Batch 6.40 completes the Experian QAS Canadian address verification product portfolio consisting of:

  • QAS Pro for point-of-entry validation, cleansing and standardization of important contact information, such as name and address
  • QAS Pro Web for address validation on Web sites and intranets
  • QAS Batch 6.40 for cleansing, completing and verifying addresses in existing customer databases

The importance of balancing investments in both upstream and downstream data quality was recently addressed in a report by Rob Karel at Forrester: “But use batch data quality for what it's good at: reconciling and consolidating similar data originating from different sources and managing high volumes of data cleansing. Using it to indicate whether critical data is trustworthy is too little, too late. Instead, embed real-time data quality validation processes and services within your upstream systems to ensure that business critical data is accurate when it’s first captured.” It’s Time To Invest In Upstream Data Quality, Forrester Research, Inc., Oct. 2, 2008.

QAS Batch cleans, completes and verifies existing records in an address database. The addition of Canadian data to QAS Batch 6.40 allows companies to verify data from 18 countries in a single software system while improving reporting and matching standards. The product reflects an updated, more intuitive user interface with more descriptions for greater usability and less required training. QAS Batch 6.40 is also multithreaded, providing improved performance and allowing for faster cleans. Previously, QAS Batch operated exclusively on a Windows® platform, but QAS Batch 6.40 extends its operating system compatibility to include certain UNIX platforms.

QAS Batch 6.40 provides additional flexibility for organizations wanting to customize formatting options. For example, many colleges and universities choose not to abbreviate certain postal address fields. The software allows institutions to default to their own formatting standards for quicker address cleansing.

QAS Batch 6.40 is available immediately.
