HRTech company adopts Experian’s employment digital verification solution providing a much slicker, and quicker candidate experience

UK, 12 September 2023: Experian has today announced a deal with Konfir in a move that is set to transform the pre-employment checking process for both candidates and employers.

By adding Experian's income and employment verification solution, Work ReportTM1, to its existing offering, Konfir becomes the first provider in the UK and Ireland to offer employers, with employees consent, direct access to secure employment history information from HR & payroll systems as part of their pre-employment checks.

The solution provides employers with access to comprehensive data starting with a candidate’s current employment, enabling instant and accurate decision-making. Since their launch in 2022, Konfir has been widely adopted by the background screening industry and this data gives Konfir the ability to further automate the screening process, reducing the time and resources traditionally required to process checks manually by clients.

Work ReportTM now covers 80% of UK employees, which gives Konfir access to employment information for millions of PAYE employees.

This solution simplifies the process for candidates to evidence their employment history. Instead of needing to know who their payroll provider is or how to log into it, candidates can provide consent to access the data, making the process easier than ever before.

Paul Speirs, Managing Director of Consumer Information Services, said: “This is a game changing offering that’ll support a much quicker, more efficient pre-employment checking process. By incorporating Experian’s Work ReportTM into Konfir’s existing platform, Konfir is not only creating a much smoother onboarding journey for candidates and employers, but importantly removing some of the barriers that have traditionally slowed down job seekers starting their new employment. We’re very excited by this development and look forward to seeing the benefits this brings to the industry.”

Chris Milligan, CEO of Konfir, said: “Proving employment history is notoriously difficult and slow, holding up many of life’s key events. We are excited to now be able to provide candidates with direct access to their employment data via Experian’s Work ReportTM. The ability to instantly pull back employment data from the source of truth for 80% of the UK will transform the pre-employment and recruitment industry. We know that this will have a huge impact for our clients, employers and candidates moving jobs.”

Konfir’s use of Work ReportTM comes in a so-called period of ‘great re-evaluation’ as a number of UK workers highlight job dissatisfaction and the intent to move roles2. With this trend set to continue throughout 2023, employers will be looking at ways to manage their employee referencing more efficiently.
