Responsibilities

CR Report 2008
Experian’s second Corporate Responsibility Report covers our evolving CR strategy, together with our performance and achievements during the year.

Don Robert, CEO, Experian Group:

“In difficult economic environments, we feel that more, not less, focus should be placed on our corporate responsibilities. That means more money, more volunteering and more effort to consider the social and ethical aspects in all our decisions.”

We take our responsibilities to shareholders and other stakeholders very seriously.

To achieve the best return for shareholders in the long term and to ensure that our relationships with other stakeholders are open, transparent and fair, Experian has developed a robust and comprehensive approach to corporate governance and corporate responsibility.

Corporate governance

We define this as the system by which our organisation is directed and controlled. It is a framework designed to encourage the most efficient use of resources, while providing strict accountability for the stewardship of those resources.

Corporate responsibility

We interpret this as taking due regard for society's expectations of large companies. We believe these expectations to be for steadily higher standards of conduct and for taking increased responsibility for the direct and indirect effects of our operations.
